What is hypnosis/hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention, heightened suggestibility, and often, deep relaxation. It’s something we move through regularly - like when you’re engrossed in a book, daydreaming, or in that hazy state between being asleep and awake. Have you ever been so focused you didn’t hear someone call your name, or so absorbed in a movie your heart started racing? That’s hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy is the intentional, therapeutic use of this state to support change. In a relaxed and safe environment - where you are always fully aware and in control - hypnotherapy helps you to create space in your mind and access your higher conscious (whether you call that your higher self, inner knowing, your soul or something different) and deeper layers of the subconscious mind. From this place, we can gain new awarenesses, or work with beliefs, patterns, and behaviours that are ready to shift, using the power of your own mind to create gentle, meaningful change. The answers are already within you.
How does it work?
Hypnotherapy involves supporting you to be in a state of concentrated focus (called hypnosis, or a trance, and is usually, although not always, with relaxation), where your conscious critical mind can take a step back and we can gain a deeper connection to your subconscious mind, where the magic happens! ✨
Gaining this deep connection with your subconscious mind enables us to get to the root cause of challenges and behaviours, and we can gain deeper self awareness and/or plant seeds for change. This state is also very beneficial physiologically where it activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowers heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and allows all of your muscles to relax. We can also access and allow unprocessed emotions to be released, and make changes to underlying beliefs and patterns for lasting change.
How many sessions will I need?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this as we are all so individual! The number of sessions depends on what you’re coming with, how deeply it’s rooted, and how your mind and body respond to the process.
Some people notice shifts after just one or two sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support over a longer period. We’ll work at your pace, and I’ll check in with you regularly to make sure the approach feels right for where you’re at.
For a specific change in habits or fears, you may choose to have approximately 3-6 sessions, or, as many faceted beings with many layers, you may choose to come for support to work through and integrate what is being coming up for you regularly.
This isn’t about rushing or achieving quick results, it’s about creating real, lasting change in a way that feels safe and sustainable for you. Small, gradual shifts can have a big impact long term, and have a flow on ripple effect to all parts of your life.
What can I expect in a session?
Each session is different and will depend on how you're feeling when you arrive and what your intentions are for your time with me. For our first session, we will have an in depth discussion around what your expectations are and what you'd like to achieve, then we will do some simple activities to check in with your body and/or subconscious mind, and finish the session with a guided relaxation hypnosis to plant the seeds of change, and leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed and inspired.
Subsequent sessions may include some deeper work into root causes of issues which can, at times bring up uncomfortable emotions and responses. This is completely normal, I will support you through this process as it allows the release, healing and integration of learnings in your session. Emotions are stored in the body and in the subconscious mind, so feeling them in session is actually really positive as it allows them to move!
Sessions will include a blend of psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and integrated somatic parts work depending on what I intuitively feel you need, and what feels right for you and your subconscious mind/body in the moment. You are always in total control and have full agency and choice over which way we proceed in each session.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Being 'hypnotised' isn't like what you see in the movies! Yes - most people can experience hypnosis, as it’s a natural state we all move through daily (like daydreaming or zoning out). You don’t need any special skills, just a willingness to be guided and a sense of curiosity.
You are always in control, and the process is collaborative. If you're open and feel safe, your mind will naturally respond — often more easily than you might expect
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a women's circle?
A women’s circle is a supportive space where women come together to slow down, connect, and be witnessed without judgment, pressure, or the need to fix or perform. Bring your fear, worries, stress
It’s a space to explore what’s real within you, to speak (or stay silent), to listen, and to remember that you’re not alone. Each circle is different, but they often include gentle reflection, sharing, guided practices, or rituals aligned with the seasons, cycles, or astrological events.
For generations, women gathered in this way, around fires, under moonlight, in kitchens and sacred spaces to share stories, wisdom, grief, and joy. While much of that tradition has been forgotten or suppressed, circles are a way to reclaim that connection and return to a deeper sense of belonging, with ourselves, each other, and something greater.
What if I can't find a suitable appointment time?
For in person sessions, I'm currently available Wednesday mornings and monthly Saturdays at Warragul Natural Health, and on Tuesdays in Trafalgar. I also offer online sessions also on those days.
Get in touch to chat and we can make a time that suits us both if you cannot find a suitable time available in the booking platform.
Whats the difference between 1:1 and Group Sessions?
Individual hypnotherapy offers a one-on-one space where we can focus deeply on your unique experiences, challenges, and goals. The session is tailored specifically to you, allowing us to explore what’s beneath the surface and work with your subconscious in a way that feels personal, safe, and deeply supportive.
Group hypnotherapy, on the other hand, takes place in a small, shared setting (usually 2–4 people). While the session is personalised a little differently, it still offers a powerful opportunity to experience guided hypnosis and emotional regulation in the presence of others. There’s something incredibly healing about coming together with like-minded people, realising you’re not alone, and being supported in shared intention.
Both formats are valuable - it just depends on what you’re seeking. Individual sessions go deeper into personal work, while group sessions provide connection, community, and collective healing in a more affordable way.
Do you offer past life regressions?
Yes — I do offer past life regression work in sessions. It’s a concept I initially approached with skepticism; in fact, it was the very first module I completed during my hypnotherapy training, and at the time, I wasn’t convinced past lives existed!
However, through my own personal explorations, I have encountered many experiences and memories that I couldn’t otherwise explain, and I’ve come to see the real value and healing this work can offer. Sometimes, past life experiences arise organically during sessions if needed. Other times, we intentionally explore them to gain deeper insight into your psyche and inner world.
Your subconscious mind may bring forward images, sensations, memories, or stories that need to be seen, felt, or shifted. Whether or not you believe in past lives doesn’t matter - our minds and bodies are incredible, and there’s so much healing and insight to be found by exploring these deeper mysteries.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! I'm always happy to discuss making this support more accessible for you. I'm also always willing to work with people who are committed to change, so if finances are the barrier for you, please reach out and we can discuss how we can make it more affordable for you. Generally for payment plans, I prefer for them to be organised before your first session with the final payment being paid on the day of your session.
If you need any help or have any questions on this - please reach out, I'm happy to chat and come up with something that will work for both of us :)
