Hi, I'm Emma; Qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, photographer and solo mum of three children aged 4, 6 and 8. I provide one on one hypnotherapy sessions (both in person and online) group hypnotherapy, workshops and women's circles covering a variety of wellbeing and creative topics.

Hypnotherapy is a gentle, yet powerful technique that can help you to gain self-awareness, access unprocessed emotions, or to make significant changes in your thoughts, feeling and behaviours. It can be very effective for managing stress, connecting with your higher self, forming or altering habits, overcoming fears, setting and achieving goals, finding motivation, and much more.

Hypnotherapy can also be very nurturing and restorative, by increasing parasympathetic activity in the nervous system which helps your mind and body relax, and counters the effects of the sympathetic nervous system, also known as the "fight-or-flight" response.

About...

I have a special interest in supporting women with the transition to motherhood, parenting struggles, and (re)finding themselves including:

  • supporting mental wellbeing and managing stress during pre-conception, pregnancy or postpartum

  • parenting challenges and parenting with intention

  • feeling overwhelmed with parenting advice and opinions

  • being able to stay in control of your emotions

  • reclaiming your sense of self and identity

  • start creating the life you want, alongside being a mother (they don't have to be mutually exclusive!)

My story...

I live in beautiful Willow Grove, Gippsland with my three kids, my collection of baby fruit trees, my attempts at veggie beds, and occasionally, a bucket of tadpoles!

Throughout my journey of motherhood, I’ve had (and continue to manage!!) several challenges, including fertility struggles, perinatal and postnatal anxiety, birth trauma, post-traumatic stress, loss of identity, relationship challenges, navigating co-parenting, explosive anger, and feelings of utter exhaustion with no light at the end of the tunnel. Part of overcoming and managing these challenges has included many, many hours of research on emotions, trauma, parenting and psychology, challenging my own beliefs and expectations of what a "good mother" is, learning how to ask for and to accept help, and discovering hypnotherapy and how truly powerful the human mind is.

During a particularly challenging time after the birth of my third child in 2020, I sought the help of a professional Clinical Hypnotherapist and was blown away with the immediate improvement in my mental state and outlook on life. I felt better than I had in YEARS, and knew I had to learn how to do this for others!

In June 2021, after several years of feeling lost, unsure of who I was or what I wanted to do, I enrolled in a Diploma in Clinical Trauma Hypnotic Sciences at Hypnotherapy Training Australia, and felt a fire in my belly! I became more and more excited about how hypnotherapy can support maternal mental health and many of the challenges that arise before and pregnancy and birth, as well as changing our patterns and behaviours so we can live and parent with intention.

I have many years of experience (my “day job”) in the corporate world facilitating team workshops to identify and bring awareness to current processes, challenging 'rules' and implementing improvements to the way things are done.

Personally, I’ve completed training in several evidence based parenting methodologies, including Transformational Parenting with the JAI Institute of Parenting, and Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids with Dr Laura Markham. I’m also currently undertaking the Motherhood Studies Practitioner Certification with Dr Sophie Brock, in order to gain a greater understanding of the sociological impacts of motherhood, and how this influences how we live and behave as mothers.

I have a strong value in continued learning and personal development, and see motherhood as an excellent (yet HARD) opportunity for self reflection and growth. Despite all of my research and intention, I'm the first to admit I don't have it all figured out, and when kids and parenting is involved, perfection doesn't exist! We are human and we will mess it up... BUT we can continue to show up for ourselves, and for our kids, and that's what counts.

Life with kids is messy. Parenting is messy. Yet there's so much joy and beauty to experience when we give ourselves a break, intentionally work on building a deeper connection with ourselves, and make small changes to start living more authentically and in alignment with our values. (Even while wiping bums and cleaning cereal off the ceiling!)
